To Dance

He didn't remember when first they met
  Or the first words they had to say
It seemed he'd known her longer than that
  In in a deeper, profound kind of way

She was an old soul come to visit
  In a body he'd never known
But he recognized her special light
  And marveled at how she'd grown

But there was one particular moment
  That they shared oh quite by chance
It stood out more than the others
  Because they'd felt obliged to dance

Beautiful music was playing as
  They danced oh cheek to cheek
So caught up in that moment
  That they could but hardly speak

And all these feelings culminating
  As if by someone designed
With their spirits intermingling
  As their bodies intertwined

And in that most special union
  With no sense of yours or mine
There was just perfect harmony
  Of a joy oh so divine

After that it mattered not
  When or how it all began
He only knew deep in his heart
  It was part of a higher plan

All lives are filled with illusions
  Of things that are not as they seem
The past just what we thought we did
  The future just illusions we dream

But for all of life's uncertainties
  This moment with her was for real
He was very clear on this matter
  Of how it made him feel

Yes, this earth has many mysteries
  As do the heavens above
And midst all this chaotic confusion
  What's real are these moments of love
